Anatomy And Variations Of Marginal Mandibular Nerve And Its Clinical Significance In Facial Surgery

Descripción:

Introduction: Anatomy and variations of the marginal mandibular nerve were studied in detail by the authors. Data was obtained from 800 facial nerve / branches dissection (Hemi-Face). Marked intra-parotid, extra-parotid, and muscle innervation pattern variations were found. Anatomy of the marginal mandibular nerve is not constant, and considerable variable patterns exist. Facial surgeons should be familiar with the variable patterns, in order to avoid nerve injury, and with the various methods of handling nerve injuries.
