This book is an overview of breast augmentation with issues concerning breast implants, a critical evaluation of the literature, and appropriate imaging studies and diagnostic criteria. Problems with silicone gel implants are still present since so many women have been implanted with these types of implants since 1964. Although the newer cohesive gel implants may not have the same problems, in the United States only the older silicone gel implants have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
