Cutaneous adverse reactions are terms medical professionals are all quite familiar with. However, as the fear of COVID-19 has spread so has the fear of vaccination against COVID-19. Misrepresentation or exaggeration of potential cutaneous adverse events may be a contributing factor to these concerns because as compared to other systemic side effects, cutaneous effects often have rapid manifestation, irritating symptoms and most of all visibility to the naked eye. Reports and photos of “Covid-arm” frequently appear on social, media coverage of dermal filler reactions after the vaccine and vaccine-associated anaphylaxis reports circulating through the news increase vaccine hesitancy for individuals with a history of allergic reactions or cosmetic procedures, despite the overall rarity and transient nature of this event.
