Rhinoplasty as generally practiced by plastic surgeons, is done in general anesthesia, and leads to considerable post-operative swelling. The frontal rhinoplasty, when cartilage dissection is done; swelling in this case can last from 8-9 months to a year or more. However, with bone intervention, fracture or hump removal, with shaving of the bone chips, swelling can last years; 2-3 years, even more. It varies from case to case.
