Temporal Nerve Variations And Its Clinical Significance In Surgical Face Lifting

Descripción:

Introduction: The author studied the anatomy and variations of temporal nerve and its branches and the clinical significance of these variations in facelift surgery. The results are described with intra-parotid and extra-parotid variations as well as variations at the temporal region, zygomatic arch, and muscle innervation. Surgeons performing facelift and facial surgery should be familiar with the various patterns of temporal nerve, its varied relationships to SMAS and superficial temporal vessels and its varied entrance patterns into the muscles. Single and multiple branching patterns of temporal nerve should be kept in mind and very careful dissection should be done close to the mid zygomatic arch. This information of these variations has clinical significance in facelift surgery.
